Mirror, Mirror

Likey? I dug it out of a bin at Goodwill.  Originally I thought the color was a bit too bright of a gold for me, but I couldn't settle on a color. So I think I'll leave it as is. Or if you have a suggestion, let me know!

I got this frame at Goodwill awhile back too. It was empty, and so I made a blackboard from blackboard paint. Sorry it's backwards. I took the picture with my computer. Cause I'm lazy like that.

Oh, and when I was in france I got this tapestry. I like it. I got two smaller ones too, but I'll show them when I get them up. I'm not sure how I want to get these up though. I figured that I'll put them in frames so they can hang without putting holes in them, like a lot of other methods. But if you guys have any ideas, I'm definitely up to it!

Mustaches

I know, I know. Everyone is sick and tired of mustaches. But guys, I never did any fun party stuff with them. I only lived vicariously through the blogosphere and so I didn't get it out of my system. Kind of like never listening to the radio so I still love all the songs that everyone else is sick of.

sooo I totally think these are cute and fun.

Kitchen anyone??

So I may not have my own kitchen, but I sure would like one of these:

{All pictures from Cote de Texas. Post can be found here. Please go see her site and drool over the pictures in all their glory, with a bunch of others that I didn't include in my personal favorites.}

These kitchens make my heart go pitter-patter.

Her sink!! I think sinks tend to get underrated in kitchens. When they are really more important than lots of other things. I mean sinks get used multiple times a day! (Sometimes all day if you have dishes "soaking" in it)

[I may or may not have choked on my own spit when swallowing when I saw this after.]

These cabinets!!! I die for open cabinetry. Especially with white dishes.

Can I go live in a french stone cottage? please??

Those walls! Those floors! Who needs hardwood floors (Which you have to be careful about getting wet... in a kitchen... with sinks.....) when you can have that?!?

Crystal chandelier in my kitchen? Yes please! Especially if I had that antique holding my dishes.

Dude this trough sink. I may faint from the amazingness of it.

After watching so many House Hunters and witnessing decoration catastrophes (I mean there is good taste, no taste, and terrible terrible taste), it is heartening to see such wonderful designs in our own country.

PS. One of the great things about blogging is that it allows me to put up links and pictures of stuff that I want for future reference, without actually having to file it away. Score!!!

PS. PS. I may or may not have had this written and posted less than an hour after it was posted on Cote de Texas's blog. Yay me?

Whiteout

Soo I'm kinda obsessed with white.

It's boring, blah, blah blah. Nope, it's clean and classic. And matches easily with other white things. I mean, wood stains are hard to match.

So I got a white vanity, and am painting a few other things in my room white. by myself. Yes, yes, I am quite handy. Wait, I shouldn't claim that until it works out I suppose.

But since I had white paint, I decided that this little knick-knack that I put my earrings on would look cute white.

It's still drying, but looks like this.

Should I be concerned that I didn't check that it goes on metal objects and not just wood?

nahh....

PS. Sorry for the terrible pictures, but it's just so easy to use the camera on my computer, and pose it around the room as I sit on the floor blogging.

This is the night stand I got off craigslist for $25!!!

I never usually find good deals. So I gave myself a little pat on the back.

Please don't be concerned that everything in my room is different colors (The nightstand is blue if you can't really see) and that I am wooing a pink chair off of craigslist. It'll all work out... I think.

Call me vain...

Sooo I got a new vanity last night! (Thanks to craigslist my sister and I went on an adventure an hour away at ten o'clock at night. Thankfully the couple selling it weren't creepy!)

Yes, that would be a blanket on top of the bench. Unfortunately the top is upholstered in a hideous red with plastic. Yuck!! So I have to get that fixed when I am free from school (Hello, monday night!) and paint a few old things white.

Basically I love my vanity because it is much more my style than my other furniture. Aka moving boxes that are acting as my night stands three months later.... and because I don't have to sit on the ground anymore to put my makeup on! yay!!

PS. I also love my mac because it allows for the utmost laziness in getting pictures for posts. As in, I didn't have to use a camera and then upload pictures. Love you Photobooth!

Keeping Track of Time

I was one of those kids constantly asking what time it was, just so I knew the time.

I'm still like that, except now I have my phone to constantly check. Or my alarm clock, computer, or TV. I always check the time when I go to sleep and wake up for comparison to previous or upcoming days. I can't understand my sister who doesn't even have a clock in her room.

I put everything into my planner to keep track of what I need to do and what I have done. So I decided to get a cute calendar this year. In the past that I can remember, I have had a hawaiian calendar, and my personal favorite a Hello Kitty calendar.

Buuuut 2010 will be tracked by this lil' beaut called "Lose yourself in a Daydream".

2010 Calendar - Lose yourself in a daydream
2010 Calendar - Lose yourself in a daydream

Messages on the different pictures are...

you can fly
It's the simple things in life
Lie in the grass and daydream...
You soothe my soul
and everything fades away...
wish
sail away with me
You are my shelter.
sing...dance...laugh...love...
The glass is half full...
Fly away with me...
believe in the magic

Bought it from this lovely lady on Etsy after I fell in love with her photos.

PS. My friend wanted to see Youth in Revolt and I love Michael Cera so I figured I would see it. I found it revolting. A complete waste of my time and money that took some of my innocence.

Okay, now we really do need a new house...

So in searching for a new house, I have *of course* started looking for new furniture for my room. I find this is less controversial than trying to decorate the rest of the house *cough* my sister.  So far I pretty much need: (I am pretty sure I won't get it though)

Button-Tufted Chaise Settee - Peacock Chandelier - 4 Arm with Glass Crystal Stem and Drops From CBK Home Lighting

Romantic Rococo Accent Table Shabby Chic Wall Mirror

Any design tips?? (I really like white stuff and 17th century style french and english stuff. If only it wasn't so darn expensive to decorate!)

BLOG TITLE
I should really go to Goodwill tomorrow as my cousin at Buffalo Gal suggests. Or maybe I should wait till we get a house...

PS. This was an inspiration from the post La Jeune Marie posted a bit ago, gushing over the room Cote de Texas did for her daughter. I, too, fell in love with it.

PS. PS. Isn't this bathroom that Corey from Tongue in Cheek has in her home to die for?? I love her style, and her stories about her and her French husband are too cute! (She moved to France after marrying him without knowing the language!)

It went from this:
