I just love days like these

  • Watching movies {She's the Man} and laughing at the corniness and ridiculousness of it.
  • Baking chocolate chip cookies {but first eating the dough with spoons}
  • Hanging out with an old friend on a cloudy winter day.

All we need is a fire.

PS. I'm totally getting an apicoectomy or "reverse root canal" where they go in through the top of my tooth. Meaning they will flip up part of my gum to reach the root. Cute, huh?

Heater love.

Because we don't live in times where we can all have a fireplace in our rooms, and because much of my time is spent at my desk in my room, I rely on this little guy to keep the feeling in my fingers and toes.

Oh, how I love him so.

I curl around him nearly every day, leave him at full blast till my room is ridiculously warm (only realized when stepping outside of the room), and only sometimes do I forget to turn you off at night and wake up in a sweat.

So, what I am really trying to say is thanks. Thanks for the warmth and good times. I hope you never leave my life.

Dreaming of a White Christmas..

just like the ones I used to know never knew.

I just want to tip my hat off to the weather today. I woke up this morning to a thin blanket of snow coating the neighborhood and nearby foothills.

It may not be much, but it sure was magical.

(I have never seen the snow actually stick here! Aand it made my car all nice and clean!)

Please, please try your best to do it once more this season please! Is around Christmas good for you??

Orange Hot Chocolate

As I mentioned before, while at Apple Hill last week, I purchased many delicious treats!

 apple cider

chocolate caramel with a marshmallow center

So when I purchased this festive hot drink mixture at Apple Hill last weekend in honor of the upcoming spooky holiday, I was expecting something on the same level of deliciousness. Plus the bonus that I was as giddy as an 8 year-old to see it turn colors!

I assumed it was regular hot chocolate that either had hints of orange in it or just turned orange. Either way I was onboard.

So I heated up my water and soy milk, and eagerly poured the white mixture in to see it turn a brilliant creamy orange color. A sweet kinda vanilla-y scent wafted up. My first hint that this was going terribly wrong.

It tasted..... it tasted..... like  a melted orange creamsicle, heated, and diluted with water.
*Mmmmh!* not.  Perhaps this would be better if you weren't expected at least a little cocoa in my HOT CHOCOLATE.

Not the best $1.50 I've ever spent. I'll be sticking with my swiss miss from now on, thanks.

Cozy and safe

I always find something calming about rain. It seems to reinvigorate my soul, and refresh my body. It reminds me how blessed I am to have a warm, dry home and it brings life to the world around me.

It's an amazing act of nature, and shows how powerful God is, and how life-giving He is. I'm reminded that we rely so much on modern technology, that if the power goes out because of a storm, it's a big deal.  Our dependence on technology, and the fact that we don't really have to know how to survive without modern conveniences is a little frightening to me.

I know I depend really heavily on having electricity to heat my water, energize my laptop, preserve my food, etc.  I have been listening to a lot of past General Conferences, and one of the talks was about learning to recognize when we are buying things because we want them, instead of need them. It made me think about what I truly need in my life, and how many of my things are superfluous and could be of better use to others.

Remember, that even if you don't like the wet weather that it's an *awesome* time to sit around a fire and spend time with your family!

Rain, rain, go away please STAY!

Everyone should make it their goal to dance in the rain at least once in their lives.

So, I get ridiculously excited when it rains. Especially if it rains really hard.

Confession: Me and my sister heard it raining and I stared out the window for a minute in pure ecstasy, then realized that it would probably end in a minute or two. Put on my shoes and a sweatshirt my totally awesome Sly-Park one from sixth grade and walked around outside with my sister until in stopped, reveling in the wonderousness of it all.

My mom remarked that we were acting as if we never saw rain before. I told her that its even more exciting when it snows.

Please snow and rain *a lot* this winter!

PS. Hope everyone is enjoying the General Conference this weekend! I know I am!!

Sitting with a nice hot mug of

DandyBlend is wonderful on those chilly winter nights.

I like it because it's like a mix between coffee and tea, but it isn't bitter at all so no milk or sugar needed! Bonus because I add a lot of sugar to tea and coffee

It's made from the roots of dandelion, chicory and sugar beet, and roasted barley and rye!

If you have a store that supplied it near you, I recommend it!

These...

would make an *excellent* addition to my wardrobe

Unfortunately, they are totally out of my price range. What are your winter wishlists filled with?

PS. Thank you weather for cooling down. I quite enjoyed wearing slippers around the house.

Come on Winter!

While unfortunately this is not the view from my window,

I absolutely cannot wait for winter to come again....

And this time I will be prepared. Enter, the Slanket.

Who needs the ever-popular-cult -like snuggie, when you can sport a Slanket?

Mine will be in hunter green.

Because everyone will be jealous of me. Because I can pull a Scarlett O’Hara . Because I will feel like Harry Potter. Because I will be warm.

It will be as if I am wearing a blanket that has sleeves.

Now you are probably think that I will feel set, completely ready for the mind-numbing cold temperature my house will be kept at this winter. Not so fast young grasshopper!

This...

....is also necessary.

The Sleepphones. They are headphones that are comfy enough to sleep in.

This will become a new craze. No more earbuds falling out of your ears while doing chores around the house, no more sore ears from jamming those same earbuds in so that they stay in, all the while during cold months you can pull that sucker over your ears so they stay cozy all-night and all-day long.

With these products, you and I will not only feel warm and cozy during those winter months, but will also look totally awesome.
