So I am taking a Shakespeare and Film class this semester. For our first essay we read the play, and watched the Zeffirelli and Lurhmann movies to compare and contrast.

My question to you is: Which do you prefer?

Personally? I prefer the one more focused on love instead of violence. Plus my head is spinning most of the time in Luhrmann's. Too. noisy.
It's kind of crazy how different these interpretations are. It's so cool to see how differently people respond to it and what you learn from each one though! I suppose that is what makes it good, right?
PS. This guy I know (but not really friends with) said a few weeks ago that he hates analyzing books and discussing themes and such. That it kills the stories. My heart died a little.
I love Luhrmann's! I love that they kept the original text but made it more modern.

I agree. they are both great but I like the first better. the 2nd one is VERY loud and violent I think
