ATTN: BYU-ers

So I know I told you guys that I was applying for Winter 2011 at BYU (hope I get in!)  But I was considering doing the Visiting Student program and coming for the Summer term.

So my question is: Would you recommend it? I was thinking of trying to get into a religion class or something. If I can get in that is.

I was wondering if any of you had stayed for the summer term and how the campus is different during that time of year, if there are still a lot of people on campus and such.

Or would you recommend maybe doing the Independent study instead and stick to my hometown's summer school?

Thanks for your input!

  1. I Say DO IT!! :) I've been at BYU the past two summers. I highly recommend it! It's definitely very different from fall and winter. Summer evenings on campus are honestly the best. During the day it's a little bit insane because there are typically a few thousand EFY (basically, mormon summer camp) kids walking around. But there are not nearly as many students around, so I felt like I got to know the campus way better before I was all of a sudden 1 person in a crowd of nearly 30,000!

Also, if you come out for summer, and just stay out here through the fall, it will give you a great chance to get settled in an apartment and find a good job. Jobs are more difficult to come by in January because there isn't as much turnover during the year. :) Feel free to email me if you have ANY more questions at all!! I"ll tell you all about it! :D

  3. I got your comment. I wasn't actually going to school during the summers I lived there, I was working with the dorm housing/efy. I started there the fall after I graduated. I don't really know timing as far as getting in for summer, but you should be just fine!! I wish I would be here, and we could be face-friends instead of just internet friends! :) you can email me at stephanielewis90@gmail.com and we can chat!

  5. GUESS WHAT. I don't know really if this is how it works, but I'm going to be a Y group leader for spring/summer term and that means I take new students around campus -- which means I might just be able to meet you this summer if you came!! We'll have to figure this out if you do, or if that's even what I do - haha.

But I'd have to say...I hear campus is fun spring/summer terms - I've never done it before, but I'm taking spring classes this year and will let you know!!
